On July 29th, the first gold medal was won at the 31st Summer Universiade in Chengdu. Chinese athlete CAO Maoyuan excelled in the men’s southern boxing competition of the martial arts routine, winning the championship with 9.770 points. As an assistant engineer in the TV subtitle team, YAN Wenlin, a graduate student from the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Sports (IAIS), was fortunate to have participated in the service guarantee work of the martial arts project team and witnessed a historic moment at the competition site.

According to YAN Wenlin, in intense competitions, assistant engineers need to handle TV subtitle related work diligently and responsibly, ensuring that the audience can timely understand the wonderful performance of each athlete. This may only be a small part of the entire television broadcasting work, but for him, every detail is crucial and there should be no slackening.

“I sincerely thank Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (CUPES) for giving me this rare opportunity to participate in such an important sports event. At the same time, I also want to thank the teachers of the technical team for their support and encouragement. The Chinese team won the gold medal in this crucial competition, which is a common honor for all members of our team. This experience will always inspire me, making me full of confidence and enthusiasm for the future!” said YAN Wenlin.
